Unique artwork, wall textures, a great bathtub, and a Betty Draper lounger spell home for Emily Christian. Nestled in Mountain Brook, Christian's home is an eclectic mix of style meets function.
What made you choose your home?
I liked the bathtub. I really liked our old home, but it was too small. We needed more space and I really liked the bathtub.
Why do you love it?
I can walk to Crestline Village. It is close to school and easy to get around.
What is your decor style?
Eclectic and artsy. My friend and interior designer Beth McMillan helped me with the wall textures and interiors. She made sure to reign in all my tastes.
What is the favorite part of your home?
I love my artwork. I have an Arthur Price that was a wedding present from his mother. My husband actually grew up next door to him. I also have nudes that Jim Burnett did out of coffee and several paintings by local artist Mark Singers.
What do you want your home to say about you?
I want it to be welcoming and that I am a lot of fun.
What is the best part?
I love my bedroom and in my bedroom I have a 'Betty Draper' style lounger in front of our bed. In case you do not watch Madmen the Bett Draper style lounger was coined by the show and describes a Victorian style lounger that women would take afternoon naps on to relax.
