Little Savannah Farm TableThursday, Jun 07,2012
Photos by Andrew Hester One of our favorite summer experiences is the Little Savannah Farm Table hosted every Wednesday from mid-May to the end of August. Maureen and Cliff Holt invite local farmers for a community style serving of fresh local vegetables, fruits, meats, and more. The first farm table dinner was kicked off by farmer John Wesson of Averiett Branch Farms near Sylacauga. The menu featured Mustard Greens and Squash Blossom Caesar Salad, Beef Bolognese with Orecchiette Pasta and Basil Pesto, and Strawberry-Polenta Shortcake with Fresh Mint and Balsamico. The meal is $35 and one of the most memorable you will have in Birmingham because it creates a true community experience. You can enjoy local food found right in Alabama, meet local farmers who are purveyors of the slow food movement, and meet other people in our community who share the same love for food and neighborhood. Reservations are required, just call 205.591.1119. For a complete schedule click here and follow Little Savannah on Twitter. |
