Paradise in Punta Mita

Traveling to Punta Mita, a small Mexican town near Puerta Vallarta, I came to discover that luxury doesn't simply mean being surrounded by opulence. It is waking up each morning feeling relaxed, secluded, and never having to want. Champagne awaits you when you arrive at the St. Regis Punta Mita as you overlook the pool cascading to the ocean shore.
A nice spacious room with an ocean view welcomed me. An outdoor shower enticed me every morning and after every swim. We enjoyed breakfast on our balcony overlooking the Pacific and lunch of traditional Mexican fare by the pool along with a margarita or salty dog. Apres beach at the Seabreeze Bar was perfect for watching the sunset.
The resort offered a variety of dining options, but the town of Punta Mita and Sayulita offered a taste of cultural flare. My favorite, Rosa Mexicano in Punta Mita which sits right on the beach. Tables jut out into the beach and you can watch the tide roll in. To start we enjoyed their signature appetizer of fried queso with fresh cilantro served on handmade tortillas. Then we had the lobster tacos, the waiter pulled the grilled meat straight from the lobster shell. The margaritas were made with rose tequila with each sip seeming illegal. One unbelievable meal, 2 margaritas, and a fedora later and we were dancing next door to a rock band singing in Spanglish.
The Remede Spa at the St. Regis is unmatched in service and relaxation customizing treatments for each guest. Nine private rooms and an intimate relaxation area create a spa experience that will leave your mind and body yearning for more.
A signature feature at all St. Regis resorts - your very own butler who is always at your service. On the trip we also had our own driver and on an excursion to nearby surfing town Sayulita we also had our own bodyguard. With absinthe being the drink of choice and Lil' Wayne pumping over the dance floor, a chaperone was in fact a good idea.
For those traveling with children, La Tortuga Children's Club offers activities like making pinatas and treasure hunts for kids 5 and older.
Whether you are traveling for romance, family, or bonding with girlfriends, the St. Regis Punta Mita is an amazing escape and with a 3 hour plane flight from Atlanta a quick trip to paradise. To learn more about the St. Regis Punta Mita click here.
