Designer Spotlight: Kristian GiambiWednesday, Jun 30,2010
Brulee is a lingerie and lounge wear collection comprised of luxurious and comfortable pieces that are sexy, versatile and travel brilliantly. Kristian Giambi is the head designer for this brilliant and sexy line.
What inspires you to design? I find inspiration in so many things so it is hard to just pick one… But being a lingerie designer I find inspiration in the beauty women embody for simply just being female. That essence is so powerful. But I also find inspiration in the men that notice them and wonder what they are wearing underneath…. How did you start designing lingerie? I wasn’t finding the type of lingerie I wanted. So I was inspired to design undergarments that women would feel feminine and beautiful in, without the frills and lace. Classic pieces that are glamorous and have an edgy twist. That modern femininity is so sexy. I wanted some of the pieces to have transition appeal. Although it is lingerie it doesn’t necessarily mean it must go unseen. If you could be anywhere in the world where would you be? Our vacation home in Cabo San Lucas, Casa Cielo. I love to get away there with my husband and close friends. Amazzzing! Where do you see your company in 5 years? Growing steadily and flourishing. Who is your favorite celeb to wear your designs? I would love for any woman, celebrity or non, exuding strength, inner beauty and confidence to wear Brulee. Tell us about a typical day for you: It changes daily being a designer. You have to be ready for anything, so I start my day with caffeine – sugar-free Redbull and of course breakfast! Being the owner and designer of a new brand I wear many hats. I work on designing, product development, sourcing, overseeing production, branding, etc. Every day presents new and different challenges that keep me motivated, inspired, and on my toes! Any advice you would give to aspiring designers? Education is important, but beyond that I believe finding a mentor in the business who can offer their insight is invaluable. As a child did you envision yourself doing something creative? Oh definitely! From a very young age I was always drawing, painting or creating something. I new I would grow up and some how make that love into a job some how. Shop the luxurious lingerie and loungewear collection online from Brulee.
