Lingerie expert Cyla Weiner, owner of Sylene (www.sylenedc.com), suggests when creating your winter fashion "to do" list to not forget to assess your lingerie, sleepwear and undergarment inventory.
"There are two must have items for winter. The first is a good uplifting seamless bra that lifts 'the girls' to give you a good look under sweaters, especially turtle necks," Cyla says. "The second is shapewear so that your bulges – whether back fat, muffin top, or a thigh tamer -- are minimized and look better under the great sweaters and sweater dresses this season."
Following are a few fashion pointers when assessing your winter wardrobe:
-
Sleepwear: Whether you turn to flannels to keep you warm while sleeping is an individual preference. Flannel is great for keeping you warm; however, some find it too hot to sleep in. "One nice alternative is getting a warm, fluffy, cuddly robe and then putting it over anything that you like to sleep in," Cyla adds.
-
Do Bras have a Season? Cyla believes if you have every bra in the "S Factor" you are basically set. Even though it is winter, shoulder dress and tops are still in vogue as are strapless dresses for the holidays. "Sometimes you might even need some sort of specialty bra for either a big party, wedding, or special night out on the town," she suggests.
-
Legwear: Legwear is really hot right now. "Everyone should have opaque tights in black, chocolate, or grey," advises Cyla. "Patterns abound everything from animal to lacey patterns, or back seams. This updates anything in your closet."
-
Winter Colors for Intimate Apparel: Black bras are always popular at this time of year because we see lots of dark colors in clothing options during winter months. "We also have many bras in pretty shades of charcoal and taupe, or sapphire blue. Plums and berry colors are also popular," believes Cyla.
