Since I love sailing I was introduced to a 'Salty Dog' years ago and after a recent trip to the Caribbean was re-introduced to this refreshing drink. In the Navy the term Salty Dog means someone who has experienced and traveled much, at the bar this drink is a refreshing blend of fresh squeezed ruby red grapefruit juice, vodka, and a rim of salt. One of the best I've had is at Bottega Cafe or make your own. It's easy:

1 1/2 oz Vodka
3 oz Grapefruit Juice

Combine vodka and grapefruit juice in a shaker with ice. Rim the edge of a highball glass with salt and pour drink in glass.
